Outdoor enthusiasts, adrenaline junkies and intrepid explorers rejoice; Hatta Resorts and Hatta Wadi Hub – Meraas’ outdoor activity destination in Dubai’s spectacular National Park – are returning for their second, highly-anticipated season from 1 October 2019 to the end of April 2020.

Following a sell-out opening season that saw more than 170,000 visitors head to Dubai’s eco-friendly destination in the mountains, Hatta Resorts and Wadi Hub will debut an exciting new addition to its jam-packed roster of offerings for everyone from families in search of a good time to adrenaline junkies.

Hatta Hiking Trails, a 32.6-kilometre ability-graded set of hiking routes, will be available for visitors to Hatta as soon as the destination opens on October 1. The trails, which start from the Hatta Wadi Hub, comprise four colour-coded routes of various difficulty levels, for absolute beginners through to experienced hikers and off-road runners. The routes are Green, Blue, Red and Black, going from easiest to hardest. Together, the Hatta Hiking Trails form the longest sign-posted hiking routes in the UAE. What’s more, they are all totally free to use and open all year.

His Excellency Abdulla Al Habbai, Group Chairman of Meraas, said: “We are all eagerly anticipating the return of Hatta Resorts and Wadi Hub, as they bring a unique adventurous spirit to the travel experience in Dubai, where access to, and sustainable use of natural landscapes cannot be found anywhere else.

“With the new activities available this outdoor season, we continue to deliver the directives of the Dubai leadership alongside the Hatta Comprehensive Development Plan, to redevelop an area that evokes authentic Emirati culture and nature, while diversifying the economy in new directions.”

Returning for the new season alongside the hiking trails is a developed Hatta Heritage Village, one of the oldest existing Emirati villages in Dubai, with its distinctive watchtowers, fort and mosque. Meraas’ work on the site over the summer now sees it return with a Majlis that has kindled a thriving local community in the area where locals and visitors come together to share and learn the history of Hatta. Further, boutique shops selling locally-made arts and crafts, Hatta-made honey, a heritage store and a local restaurant have been added to the site to give visitors a sensory feel for what local village life was like for Emiratis hundreds of years ago in Dubai’s historic area.

But if it’s pulsating adventure and exploration visitors are seeking, Hatta Wadi Hub offers a wide range of paid and free activities to suit every taste, ranging from mountain bike coaching and rentals to downhill mountain biking and trampoline jumping. The Hub Centre provides ample parking and visitor services.

The Hatta Damani Lodges Resort and Hatta Sedr Trailers Resort provide the most in-tune with nature and innovative hospitality concepts in the region. The Hatta Damani Lodges Resort house three novel cabins with an idyllic mountain lodge experience enhanced by Hatta’s rich ecosystem that spans across extensive mountain and biking trails. The resort is close to Hatta Wadi Hub and to a world of adventures and activities.

Celebrating the great outdoors is not a novelty to Hatta and its mountain getaways. Hatta Sedr Trailers Resort brought the first-ever trailer hotel concept to the region, featuring trailers transformed into hospitality units, each with its own terrace. Guests can access a common area equipped with a fire pit and barbeque facilities while enjoying uninterrupted views of the picturesque banks of Hatta Dam.

Set against the dramatic urban landscapes of the rugged Hatta mountains, Meraas has designed and packaged the essential getaway from the city for today’s thrill-seeking eco-warriors with the Hatta Experience.

Furthermore, as part of the UAE leadership’s vision for Hatta, which aims to transform its stunning natural environment into a self-sustainable national park and make Hatta a leading player in the local eco-tourism industry, the Meraas experiences in Hatta aim to build awareness of the natural resources available in the area, protect its rich ecosystem and preserve precious water sources. The destination offers holidaymakers a unique opportunity to interact with the environment while making the most of their time off in the UAE.
